### Objective:
Students will learn about various cultural art traditions from around the world, understand the significance and context of these arts, and create their own art pieces inspired by a selected culture.
### Materials:
- World map
- PowerPoint presentation with images of cultural art from different countries
- Art supplies (paper, colored pencils, markers, watercolors, etc.)
- Internet access for research
- Handouts with information on different cultural art forms

### Session 1: Introduction to Cultural Art
**1. Warm-Up (5 minutes):**
- Start with a brief discussion: What is culture? How do different cultures express themselves through art?
- Show a world map and ask students to name different countries they know.
**2. Presentation and Discussion (20 minutes):**
- Use the PowerPoint presentation to showcase various examples of cultural art, such as African masks, Japanese ukiyo-e prints, Native American pottery, Indian rangoli, and Latin American textiles.
- For each art form, explain its historical and cultural context, and its significance within the culture.
- Encourage students to ask questions and share any knowledge they have about these cultures.
**3. Research Activity (15 minutes):**
- Divide the students into small groups and assign each group a different culture to research further. Hand out information sheets to help guide their research.
- Each group will prepare a short presentation on the key features, history, and cultural importance of the assigned art form.
**4. Homework Assignment (5 minutes):**
- Ask students to think about which cultural art form they found the most interesting and prepare for a creative project in the next session. They should bring any additional materials they might need.
### Session 2: Creating Cultural Art
**1. Warm-Up and Review (5 minutes):**
- Recap the key points from the previous class.
- Allow the groups to present their findings in brief.
**2. Art Creation (25 minutes):**
- Each student will create their own art piece inspired by the cultural art form they researched.
- Encourage creativity and individuality while maintaining the essence of the original cultural art.
- Provide guidance and support as needed, helping students with techniques or ideas.
**3. Gallery Walk and Reflection (10 minutes):**
- Once the art pieces are completed, arrange them around the classroom for a gallery walk.
- Have students walk around, observe each other's works, and leave positive feedback on sticky notes.
- Facilitate a short reflection discussion: How did they feel creating art from another culture? What did they learn about that culture through their art?
**4. Conclusion and Clean-Up (5 minutes):**
- Conclude the lesson by emphasizing the importance of understanding and appreciating diverse cultures and their art forms.
- Instruct students to clean up their work areas.
